This guide contains 50 practical electronic circuits for power supply applications. It contains circuits designed as voltage regulators, limiters, current sources, monitors, converters, inverters, and some auxiliary circuits commonly used in power supply devices.

You can combine several circuits into one large module to create a powerful electronic device specially designed for your exclusive project. Most circuits are in the voltage regulator category while some are auxiliary that can enhance or protect the power supply circuits.

The transistors used in the circuits have more than one possible equivalents. The pin designations are also shown in details. This feature can help avoid unnecessary delays.

The pins shown are either in the bottom view or front view of the transistor unless otherwise noted. Large transistors which cannot or not planned to be installed directly on the PCB must be installed on a heatsink. A dashed circle around a transistor means that the transistor must be heatsinked.

----- The capacitor values are given in microfarad unless otherwise specified. Electrolytic or polarized capacitors are marked with a plus sign in the diagram. This plus sign corresponds to the capacitor's positive polarity in the circuit. Additionally, their voltage ratings are also given. Nonpolar capacitors are ceramic types and rated with 50 volts.

The resistor values are given in ohms (Omega), rated 1/4 watts and are of carbon film type unless otherwise specified.

The appendix pages at the end of the guide contain data on semiconductor equivalents including transistors, diodes, zener diodes, FET and other multi-junction semiconductors.

Two pages of illustrated semiconductor pin designations and layouts are also available as appendix.

The printed circuit board layouts are also printed for the second time at the end of the guide. These pages can be cut out for convenience in copying or transferring the layout on the actual pcb board.
